An Exceptional Team With Exceptional Service

Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Hilary Nieberg Baskin

Dr. Hilary Nieberg Baskin has been providing exceptional orthodontic care to her patients for more than 20 years. She truly loves making people smile! Her professional yet friendly and fun personality is sure to make any patient comfortable.

Raised in a family with her father as her orthodontist, she was exposed to her dental calling at an early age; pictures of her with baby teeth are even in orthodontic textbooks! (Yup- think the dental scene in Finding Nemo with the headgear and pigtails and you won’t be too far off!) As the mother of two boys, Jonah and Gabe, she also understands the trials and tribulations of motivating our patients to wear elastics and retainers from a parent’s perspective!

Dr. Baskin obtained her undergraduate degree at Colorado College and attended the University of Nebraska for her dental school education. She completed her general practice residency at the Denver VA Medical Center and attended the prestigious Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, one of just a handful of hospital-based programs, for her orthodontic specialty training. Her impressive research on orthodontic X-ray analysis was published soon after. She was honored to be the recipient of the Davidson Award, a singular award given to the outstanding dental resident who exhibits clinical excellence and serves as a role model for the other residents based on ethics and professionalism. Dr. Baskin opened her first practice in Connecticut before she and her family moved back to Colorado in 1997. She practiced orthodontics for a decade before founding All About Braces in 2007 with Dr. Mershon, who started his dental career as her assistant!

    Dr. David Mershon

Dr. Mershon was born and raised in Colorado. He attended both Arvada West and Arvada high schools. He moved to New Orleans to attend Loyola University, where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry.

After earning those degrees, he returned to his beloved state of Colorado where he began working in the dental field. He worked at Colorado’s largest full-service dental laboratory, where he quickly learned vital skills such as crown, bridge, denture, and implant fabrication.

Growing up the son of a carpenter meant that Dr. Mershon was taught very early on how to fix just about anything, and these skills proved to be extremely valuable in the dental laboratory. During his time there, he realized the dental field was his true passion.

To further his dental experience before applying to dental school, he began working as an orthodontic assistant for Dr. Hilary Baskin. After being accepted in Marquette University’s School of Dentistry, Dr. Mershon moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for his postgraduate, doctoral education. After earning his Doctorate in Dental Surgery and Sciences, he was accepted into Marquette University’s orthodontic program. He eagerly moved back to Denver after completion of the orthodontic program to rejoin Dr. Baskin in 2007.

Dr. Mershon holds memberships in many professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, World Federation of Orthodontists, Colorado Dental Association, Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, and Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists. He enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of orthodontics, so he has lectured to dental students, high school students, and children in the public schools.

He has also been interviewed for numerous newspaper articles such as in Colorado Parent Magazine as a dental expert. He also has a passion for treating patients with developmental disabilities and sensory issues.

A father of a blended family with eight amazing children, Dr. Mershon spends most of his out-of-office time helping with homework, attending kids sporting events, and traveling with his wife, Kristal, and their kids. He enjoys basketball, golf, football, camping, and hiking, and is particularly fond of any professional team from the Denver area!

      Dr. Margarita Lachica

Dr. Lachica joined us with over 25 years of broad dental experience and deep passion for the work!

A native of Illinois, Dr, Lachica graduated from Northwestern University Dental School, on a full scholarship awarded from the US Navy. After completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certification, she served our brothers and sisters in uniform for three tours on three continents, the greatest privilege of her life. She finished her naval career as a Lieutenant Commander.

Upon returning to civilian life, Dr. Lachica taught full-time as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Texas at Houston Dental Branch while concentrating on cosmetic dentistry and performing infection diseases research for the US Navy.

In her five years as a general dentist, Dr. Lachica discovered her passion for orthodontics. She subsequently earned her orthodontic specialty training and masters degree from University of California San Francisco. Having had varied experiences as a solo, group, university and volunteer orthodontist, she is deeply impressed by All About Braces’ mission to serve the Denver community with altruism and commitment to excellence.

What she finds most gratifying about the practice of orthodontics is the opportunity to be a part of a child’s transformation, orthodontically and even deeper. “A patient is never just a set of teeth. Those teeth belong to a whole person, with feelings. And that person is part of the family.”

Outside of conventional orthodontic practice, Dr. Lachica has volunteered with Thousand Smile Foundation, traveling to Mexico to treat children with facial deformities and associated orthodontic needs. She’s consulted for the US Naval Recruiting Command in two states and has served on the panel for Congressional Appointments for the US Naval Academy. Dr. Lachica also mentors young adults interested in the field of dentistry.

When not in the office, Dr. Lachica can be found pushing wheelchair-bound veterans around the Denver VA Hospital or volunteering at her daughter’s elementary school. On her own, she practices daily mediation and is an amateur adrenaline adventurist: ready to try a new sport, join a silly fun run, or pick up a leg of a triathlon.
